(TruthSeekerDaily)  One man’s caring heart and quick thinking, gave a newborn baby girl the chance at life 18 years ago.  He was her silent savior and the two have gone the girl’s life until this point without meeting.  That all changed when she reached a special milestone at 18 years old, her high school graduation.

In November 1995, Charlie Heflin rescued a newborn baby girl from a cemetery in Champaign, Ill.  Now that little girl is a teenager who’s graduating high school and had the chance to meet Heflin who saved her and provided her the opportunity to live her life after she was once left out in the cold.

Heflin, who was a volunteer firefighter at the time, happened to be listening to the police scanner when a call came in that there was a baby abandoned under a pine tree at Mt. Hope Cemetery. However, police failed to find the baby there, so Heflin went to another local cemetery on a hunch.  He found the newborn infant just in time, as she wouldn’t have lasted long in the subzero degree weather.

“I heard a little whimper when I got close to the tree.  I dug down inside this real huge pine tree and found her.”

That infant was adopted a week later by Bonnie and Greg James, who named this precious miracle baby Skyler. Bonnie James tried for years to contact her daughter’s rescuer, to no avail, until right before Skyler’s graduation party.  Bonnie decided to surprise her daughter with this amazing reunion.

“I was totally shocked,” Skyler James said. “It’s something that I’ve dreamed of since I was a little kid, and it’s amazing.”

The two finally had that long awaited embrace of gratitude.  Then, Heflin presented the teen with a one of a kind gift the jacket he wore the night he rescued her.
