(TruthSeekerDaily) Alzheimer’s disease is a slow progressing and frustrating condition not just for who’s inflicted with it, but for those that love and care for that individual. The disease slowly causes the mind and memory to degenerate and as it progresses the individual forgets who they are, loses key parts of their personality, and sadly draws away from those closest to them since they become strangers to the ill too. Although the mind goes, the heart remains the same, and this touching story proves this fact.
Three years ago, Melvyn Amrine was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Ever since the start of his illness, he has faded away and his wife Doris, who lovingly took care of him. They had been married for 60 years, when suddenly he went missing. Naturally, this send Doris into a panic.
Melvyn went missing before Mother’s Day.
His loving wife was frantic to find him. He had Alzheimer’s disease and could get himself hurt or lost.
Luckily, cops finally located him. When he returned home, he had a big bouquet of roses for his wife.
Melvyn was trying to buy her flowers, so the two officers helped him complete his task.
Beginning with the birth of the couple’s first child, Melvyn bought his wife a large bouquet of flowers. He had a moment of clarity right before he recently went missing, when he realized that is was going to be Mother’s Day soon and wanted to carry out his tradition of giving his wife flowers. Even though he cannot remember when or how he proposed to Doris, he knows that he loves her very much and wanted to show her that (even if he needed some assistance in doing so).
What the mind can’t remember the heart can convey.
