(TruthSeekerDaily) Journey is lending a hand to aid victims of the devastating typhoon that hit the Philippines last week. The band announced on Friday that it is donating $350,000 to help relief efforts there.journey walking

The band’s promoter Live Nation Entertainment, Creative Artists Agency and manager John Baruck are among the contributors.

Initial funds will go to the United Nations World Food Programme toward providing 1.4 million meals for Filipinos in urgent need of assistance.

Pineda’s statement: “Don’t stop believing, help is on the way for the people of the Philippines.”

The singer, based in Manila, is mobilizing the coalition of partners and will meet with WFP executive director Ertharin Cousin Saturday to announce the donation.

Typhoon Haiyan, the largest storm to make landfall in recorded history, displaced 615,000 people. Journey is encouraging fans to make donations for food relief a twfpusa.org or by texting the word AID to 27722 to instantly give $10.

WFP, the largest humanitarian organization in the world, will supply food and other aid to 2.5 million people over the next six months. Funded entirely by voluntary donations, WFP fed more than 97 million people in 80 countries last year.
